ACS is staffed by a dedicated, professional staff and governed by eleven volunteer Board of Directors. Our dedicated staff members have broad experience in community outreach and their connections to other charitable and social agency organizations make them a valuable resource in our community.

Melanie has been employed with Ancaster Community Services since 2005 as the Coordinator of Volunteer Services and was appointed Executive Director in March 2015. Melanie is responsible for the day-to-day operations of ACS, is the agency’s public spokesperson, and is able to provide information and referral to ACS clients. Melanie is management’s representative on the ACS Board. Melanie has lived in Ancaster since 1996 and has a solid understanding of the continually changing needs within the Ancaster community. Melanie has volunteered in the community since she first moved here and has served on several local executive committees, including her current role as the Past President of the Hamilton Administrators of Volunteers.

Paula joined ACS in January 2015 and we are thrilled to have her on our team. Paula has a wealth of experience working in the fields of marketing, media and communications. She coordinated the Christmas Program at the Children’s Aid Society last season and is passionate about volunteer engagement and working in the not-for-profit sector. Paula coordinates the Meals on Wheels and Volunteer Assisted Driving Programs, and coordinates the volunteers for those programs. Paula also coordinates the volunteers for the Food Bank, Office Assistance, and the ACS Christmas Outreach Program.

Alethea joined ACS in the Fall of 2011 with the support from an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant. She brings over 9 years experience in the social services field working in various settings including support group facilitating, community development, health promotion, counselling and crisis management. She specializes in working with the older population but Alethea is also familiar with mental health, addictions and the promotion of self-esteem and the WrapAround process. Alethea is an enthusiastic, compassionate person who will be working with clients requiring support for Food Assistance, Counselling & Referral, Home Support and Community Bus registration.

Alex joined ACS in June of 2016 after completing her undergraduate degree in Communications from McMaster University. Alex loves giving back to the community and doing whatever she can to help others. As Administrative Assistant, Alex enjoys being able to lend support in many different ways within the office. Whether it is assisting a staff member with a job or interacting with volunteers and clients who come in to the office, Alex strives to give a helping hand and smile to everyone she interacts with.
