Ancaster Community Services is a local, grassroots non-profit organization. We are powered by community members who volunteer with us, and we are dependent on donations to support our programs.
While Ancaster may have the perception of affluence, the need for our services still exists, especially for vulnerable seniors and people facing food insecurity. ACS continues to experience an increase in clients accessing our services, and we can only meet these needs with the help of our donors, volunteers and community supporters.
With the contributions of funders, donations and volunteers, in 2016 ACS has been able to:
- Provide 86 families with assistance during the Christmas holidays
- Deliver 2776 hot meals to seniors and shut-ins
- Support 1500+ people with emergency food, toiletries, and grocery gift cards year-round
- Start up a Frozen Meals program in (officially launched in January 2016) to ensure that local seniors and people facing health challenges, have access to ready-made, nutritious meals without worrying about cooking or grocery shopping. 3315 frozen meals were provided in 2016.
As of September 2017, our Meals on Wheels program has grown by 22% and we have delivered 2626 hot meals so far this year for seniors at risk for food insecurity. Our Frozen Meals program has grown by 24%.
